Overview
Foama-Spheres®, a special application for Chroma-Spheres®, were introduced by Chroma to provide molders a directly rotomoldable and foamable polyethylene. In this new technology, developed by Exxon, varying percentages of foaming agents are incorporated during the micropelletization process to produce foamed parts with densities ranging from 7-30 pounds per cubic foot. These parts have a more uniform wall thickness and improved cell structure due to the superior dispersion of the blowing agent during the micropelletization process.
Advantages
- Foama-Spheres® offer the rotational molder a process for incorporating a chemical blowing agent into microspheres to produce foam.
- Microsphere compounding fully disperses the blowing agent, resulting in a more uniform cell structure and an increase in physical properties when compared to dry blended foam products.
- Foama-Spheres® exhibit superior flow characteristics and result in a more uniform part thickness with less voids.
- Applications include skin/foam and skin/foam/skin molded parts.
Customize to Application
- Foama-Spheres® are available in a range of densities including lower and more uniform foam densities, achieved by the consistent processing of compounded foam and the even flow of the product in a micropelletized form.
- Foama-Spheres® are available in custom colors that can match the molders choice
of an exterior skin. Color is incorporated during the manufacturing process, eliminating the need for additional dry blending.
The Challenge
Challenge Chroma to demonstrate how our commitment to EXCELLENCE IN COLOR can
make a meaningful contribution to the success of your business.
